College Life

Hahaha, well it's exactly like the movies. I even learnt a cheer tonight, complete with motions. They say I can't be on the team because I'm only here for one semester and I'll miss most of the big games.... booo. But I still learnt one and Christian said I was good and wishes I was here for the whole year. He said I could be a flyer (where they toss you in the air). What a shame.

I might see how I go with the whole dance team tho, that might be cool.

I spent US$200 on text books today, pretty shocking. And I even have a textbook for DANCE CLASS! What is up with that, honestly.

History and politics look pretty cool. I think it will be easy work, but I might take that back later in the semester.

Missing you all, please comment so I know that you're following, otherwise I wont bother updating hahaha.

I love College

Check out my new photos on facebook at http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=32363&id=1497519424&l=3af5257e5e .

Loving college so far. My roommate is really lovely, we're having a good time! Room looks bare at the moment but I'll be putting up some photos.

Basically, college is exactly how i imagined it. Every stereotype is true, except that Sorority girls are not always pretty. But thats about the only exception. Hahha ask me for examples if you really want more details ;)

Went to a college party yesterday, great fun with the Ice Hockey team. Apparently they are really good so I can't wait to go to a few games and trainings :D

Everyone wears college gear here. Everything says "Oswego State" or "Lakers" or SUNY.. I'm living in my Hart Hall t-shirt.

Campus has an Ice hockey rink, two pools, about 9 or 10 residence halls, a huge F***ing lake (Ontario) and a starbucks... Amongst everything else of course. The College Book Store is huge, and they have all sorts of stuff with Oswego state on it (fashion). Anything from hoodies, blankets, pjs, key rings, hand bags to necklaces.... They've got almost everything. Loving how American it all is yay!

Haha ask me more if you want, but I keep forgetting what to say. I'll put up photos regularly tho, so be sure to keep checking my facebook profile at http://facebook.com/kelseyob

Love ya! Comment :D

Sorry.....

Okay so it's been a while since I last posted, my bad.

What have I done since then? Well, Paris was awesome, we had really gorgeous weather which is great, made for some really stunning photos (see them at http://facebook.com/kelseyob) and it was a highlight of the trip so far. my Fav place was arc de triomphe.

London for a few more days, trips to Hampton Court and Windsor to do some sight seeing. Went with Kimberley, Georgia, Isabelle and dad for both trips, really really great.

Trip to Greenwich to see the centre of the world and some clocks lol. Great times...

And now I'm in NYC! Pretty amazing really.... Comment if you are interested in a I <3 NY t-shirt and i might be able to get people one but my baggage is really limited yo...

Off to college on monday, can't wait. Having so much fun. Missing everyone tho, gonna be awesome to see Ben and Jeremy.

Having some difficulties with getting a phone, I'm wondering whether Virgin Mobile has coverage in Oswego. We'll see.

Thanks for stopping by, remember to check my photos on my facebook.

Lov you all. x

Paris Tomorrow

Hey all,

I'm off to Paris tomorrow and thus will be out of action for a few days, will post when I get back... (Fri morning NZ time)

Hope all is well in Godzone.

Dad and I went to the Tower of London today and did a big tour on the Big Red Buses which was good fun until one of the buses started going around in circles for no good reason.... London is really expensive, but it's such a lovely city.

Riding the tube a lot and dashing around everywhere at the speed of light. everything is so fast paced, it's hard to keep up. I just want to be the annoying tourist that lags behind and looks at everything hahah.

Really enjoying my book! Going to be good to read on the eurostar if it doesn't make me sick.....

talk soon. x

London + more

I found out my roommate today. Very exciting, I can't wait to hear from her. Unfortunately, I can't facebook stalk her 'cause it looks like she doesn't have a facebook.

I forgot to tell you all about Kim and Andy's gorgeous kids! There are photos to go onto my facebook soon... But Georgia is 3 and is so sweet, loves to play with me. I am soooo jealous of all her pretty dresses and hairclips. I wish I was young again (you know when falling over didn't really hurt that much, and playing in the bath was the most fun thing in the whole world)... Isabelle is younger, 20months and has a bundle of energy. You'll put her on your lap and she'll wriggle around to give you a kiss before she jumps off to run around the yard a few dozen times. Her hair is so cute and curly. And they both smell fantastic! I never expected kids to smell so clean.

London is stunning, apparently this is the first fine weather they have had for a long time. Can't wait to do some sight seeing tomorrow!

I have crunchie bars, pineapple lumps and L&P in my bag and I really want to eat it all lol. Don't know if it is going to make it to the states...

Off to Paris on Tuesday, will be great. Sam has given me some good advice for the route we should take, looks like walking is the trick. Hopefully dad will listen, otherwise we could split up like we did in Hong Kong, no biggie.

Missing everyone soo much. xx

Hong Kong

Okay, so I've decided that the best way to blog etc is just to do it in like a shorthand.. Partly because I can't be online for long, and partly because there is so much to write about!!

So....

5 -6 Aug.

Flew from AKL - HKG. 1 hours. Read flag on plane. Pasta for dinner, frittat for b'fast. Train from airport - station where we caught a free shuttle to the hotel. 130km/h. My bags are really really really heavy. 50kg +. I forgot my camera charger :( and my blue swimming togs.. Maybe Ben could bring them over :P Hotel room is small but comfortable! Checked in at 10am. Dad bought sum glasses for NZ $290 for frames, lenses, transition and all! To pick up 7 aug. Sight dseeing. Lunch - iced coffee and spare ribs Hong Kong style. delish.. Dad had fried rice and beer. Bought a new camera charger! Slow but good. Approx $25NZ. I am tired.

Trip to Big Budda at Ngong Ping on Lantau Island. Caughtt eh train. Complicated, NZ$3.10 each way, two connections. Very tired. Cable car to budda. NZ$20. 25mins each way. spectacular views and very scary because we are VERY high up. Light show at 8pm. Not spectacular. Hotel. Sleep.

PS - Mcdonalds sundaes are amazing here for only like NZ$1.20.

7 aug.

8am wake up breakfast at hotel - super yum. today is 32 degrees celcius plus. Hong Kong island via star ferry, tour of HKI. v. good. Cable car up mt victoria lovely weather! Clear blue skies. Typhoon the day before we arrived. bought I <3 HK t-shirt like NZ$5. Tour on bus again, (like in London). Dad went back to Kowloon in a hissy fit. I stayed for a further 3 hours on my own in the middle of hong kong! Mum would be proud!

Shopping! Dad got hard drive and a micro sd card for my phone for NZ$200 (not that cheap, but still pretty good). I bought perfume. my beloved d&g light blue. awesomely cheap NZ$60 for 100 mLs yus :D legit and all!

bought dad 2 cans of carlsberg nd a 800ml bottle of water for less than NZ$4! it was awesome lol.

in london now - went out for dinner last night. really yum, steak & creme brulee. Kim wears mum's perfume. making me home sick already!!!

more updates to come, and photos too. miss mum + Cam and others.

love u all.

PS comment cos that would be awesome! xx

Official notice

Okay all, it's official - I have started packing...

But it's kinda weird cause I'm almost finished you know. I guess it feels like I will be packing up until the time I leave, but it's strange because I feel like I have packed most things, and I've still got a few days to go...

Don't know quite what to think about the trip yet. People keep saying to me "aren't you excited?" and "omgosh thats so exciting!" and of course I am, but part of me is restricting myself from getting caught up in the adventure - I have to give myself a reality check every now and then.

Sad saying good bye to all my friends, had a great night out and it made me realise the things I'm going to miss. I don't even know if my nightlife will be the same over there!

I don't know if I'll post before I leave... So buh-bai for now. Next post might be in Hong Kong!!

Trouble in paradise

So ALL things about an exchange are not so glamourous (soon that will be glamorous).

Very stressful packing, family stuff and organisation of the different things are kinda working me down...

Arg I can't even get my words out.

I'm just going to miss the people who mean a lot to me... They know who they are. Wish I could take you all with me!

Loving Rachel for posting a comment, my blog is no longer a virgin!

Wish I could write like Jenni.

Out.

Time for number two...

Thinking about what to pack...

I mean, what the hell do you take on a trip that covers 3 different seasons... And Hong Kong is REALLY hot at the moment. Two days spent in 36 degrees celcius... fun! What shoes to take? I want to be comfortable when I'm walking around, but sneakers are waaaay to heavy. But i do have 46 kilograms worth of luggage I guess, I was hoping to save that for shopping though :P

Thus the lists start...

Tops
Shoes
Jeans
Boots
Togs
Electronics
Underwear
Medication
Jackets
Sweatshirts
Dresses?

Feel free to comment on anthing I've missed.....

Entry #1 - Kia Ora

Hi all,

This will be my online diary for the duration I'm away, and I'll try and update all those who are interested in hearing about my travels.

At the moment, it's about two weeks until I leave New Zealand, heading to New York Via Hong Kong, London, Paris and New York City. Going with my dad, can't wait.

Hope you guys enjoy following my tales, I imagine it'll be therapeutic for me to record the events of my exchange.

So hi, welcome and lookforward to reading all your comments in future!
